چکیده
Abstract Material genetic engineering can significantly accelerate the development of new materials. As an important topic in material science and condensed matter physics, metallic glasses (MGs) with specific properties has largely been result trial error since their discovery 1960. Yet, property design based on physical parameters constituent elements MGs remains a huge challenge owing to lack understanding inheritance from constitute resultant alloys. In this work, we report inherent relationships yield strength σ y , Young’s modulus E shear Modulus G valence electron density. More importantly, reveal that electronic density states (EDOSs) at Fermi surface ( F ) is factor for MGs. The are inherited element largest coefficient heat γ i ), which dominates value EDOS . This work not only contributes inheritances but also guides novel engineering.

Mechanical Properties of Metallic Glasses
Metallic glasses are known for their outstanding mechanical strength. However, the microscopic mechanism of failure in metallic glasses is not well-understood. In this article we discuss elastic, anelastic and plastic behaviors of metallic glasses from the atomistic point of view, based upon recent results by simulations and experiments. Strong structural disorder affects all properties of meta...
متن کاملEvaluation of the Elastic Properties of Bulk Metallic Glasses
The development of bulk metallic glasses as a prominent class of functional and structural materials has attracted considerable interest in the last years. One of the fundamental physical quantities necessary to describe the mechanical properties of the materials is the bulk modulus. In the present article, a simple method to estimate the bulk modulus and its pressure derivative is proposed. It...
متن کاملCorrelation of mechanical properties in bulk metallic glasses with 27
We report 27Al NMR and magnetic susceptibility measurements of Zr and ZrHf-based bulk metallic glasses (BMGs). 27Al NMR Knight shift shows that there exists a clear correlation between the local electronic properties at Al sites and mechanical properties. In addition, magnetic susceptibility measurements also provide clues on the influence of the electronic states, especially the strong influen...
متن کاملAtomistic simulations of Mg–Cu metallic glasses: mechanical properties
The atomistic mechanisms of plastic deformation in amorphous metals are far from being understood. We have derived potential parameters for molecular dynamics simulations of Mg–Cu amorphous alloys using the Effective Medium Theory. We have simulated the formation of alloys by cooling from the melt, and have used these glassy configurations to carry out simulations of plastic deformation. These ...
